A video of five buildings filmed in 1996 in south London. The functions of these buildings vary from, a heating system for a housing estate, a water tower, an air vent, to a Thames mooring. What was initially of interest was the architectural freedom generated by their function, in marked contrast to the rows and rows of rectangular solutions of domestic housing. But this footage is changed with the passage of time, revisiting these sites today two remain relatively untouched, two are transformed by their proximity to the millennium dome and one no longer exists. |
