'God lives in Detail' (2007- ), involves deconstructing and assembling constructions from recycled computers. Escapism is the considered theme as Jools presents his love / hate relationship with computers. As one of billions who enslave their deteriorating eyes at the pixilated screen, Jools finds solace in constructing a beauty of his own from the discarded machines that now stockpile in recycling centres. Every screw, nut and bolt is reused to assemble these constructions. Nothing is added that is not already a part of a computer. Each computer holds a story and this reconfiguration of its life presents a new beginning for the viewer. |
