World Animations is created from drawings produced on-situ with a laptop. It is based on observations of cityscapes viewed from hotel room windows during my travels. Only the real-life movements that occur whilst making the drawings are turned into the changeable parts of the animations. These are minimal and understated with long intervals of stillness punctuating time between each action, forcing the viewer to closely inspect the drawings not to miss the next movement. The human presence is implied rather than actually seen, giving a sense of expectancy and tension within a narrative that is never fully expounded. |
