In the 1960's Bill Watson studied Fine Art, Sculpture at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham. Since then he has split his time between teaching and making, mainly 3 dimensional work. At Corsham he first encountered Concrete Poetry and that particular artform has remained influential. Over the years many works have had their genesis in text/s. Babel Towers continue to be explored along with other less recognisable architectural forms. The subject of his works continues to be the relationship between word and object - an interest in language, its interpretive use, its power over vision - where gaps and slippage occur between thoughts and words, things and their names. |
